Individual Therapy

Initial Consultation:  15-20 minutes

We will spend the initial consultation talking about what you’re looking for in a therapist, and possibly what you’re looking to work on in therapy and to assess if this will be mutually a good fit.  If not, I can help refer you to someone who would be.  I always want to make sure you’re going to get the most out of your experience.

First Session - Assessment:  50-80 minutes

During the first session we will spend time assessing where you’re at and what you need.  We will fill out initial paperwork and assessment questionnaires, and we’ll start to get an understanding of what your goals might be. This is arrived upon based on what you bring and possibly some of my own suggestions if you need help identifying some.

Ongoing Sessions: 50 minutes

Continue to solidify goals for therapy and outline a flexible roadmap of how to get there.  Much of what on-going therapy looks like will be dictated by the circumstances that bring you into therapy. Overall, however, we will continue to meet the goals you have voiced initially that you set for therapy and we'll check on progress along the way. Goals are always made to be changed or flexible to what you view as most important thing to work on at any given session.

Frequency of sessions:

This is entirely up to you. Most individuals find that for therapy to be effective, they prefer to meet once a week or at the very least every other week. Frequency of sessions is a topic that will come up during the initial consultation and first session assessment. It is good to consider for yourself what would work best for you and your schedule before coming in.
